1988 - Creation of the José Carreras International Foundation for the Fight against Leukaemia. 

1988 - Benefit concert at the Barcelona Arch of Triumph for an audience of 150.000 people.

1989 - Inauguration of the Transplant Unit at the Hospital Clínic in Barcelona, funded by the José Carreras Foundation.

1990 - Creation of the José Carreras foundations in the United States and Switzerland.

1991 - Creation of the Spanish Bone Marrow Donor Registry (REDMO).

1992 - First TV3 (Catalan TV Channel) benefit Marathon for the Foundation.

1994 - Framework agreement with the Spanish Health Ministry recognizing REDMO as part of the National Health System.

1994 - First bone marrow extraction from a Spanish donor for a foreign patient (Australia).

1994 - The first apartment for leukaemia patients and their families is made available in Barcelona.

1995 - Creation of the José Carreras Foundation in Germany.

1995 - First José Carreras Gala on the German TV Channel ARD for the benefit of the Foundation.

1996 - Launch of the common programme between the Barcelona Blood Cord Banc and the one from the Düsseldorf University .

1998 - Commemorative concert of the Foundation's 10th anniversary at the Montjuïch Fountains in Barcelona in front of a 60.000-people audience.

1998 - The Foundation receives the Generalitat de Catalunya's First Josep Trueta Plate for health merit.

1999 - Agreement with the "La Caixa" Foundation and the Generalitat de Catalunya to promote umbilical blood cord donations.

1999 - Agreement with the Crèdit Andorrà Foundation and the governments of Andorra and the Generalitat de Catalunya to promote bone marrow donations in Andorra.

1999 - Inauguration of the José Carreras Transplant Unit at the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital (Badalona).

2001 - The Foundation's REDMO programme reaches the 1,000 figure of compatible donors located for patients awaiting a transplant.

2002 - Benefit programme La Noche Abierta in TVE (Spanish TV Channel) for the benefit of the Foundation.

2002 - The Foundation has cooperation agreements established with each of the 17 Comunidades Autónomas, once INSALUD (previous Spanish health system) was dissolved.

2003 - The Foundation increases to five its net of apartments for patients and their families in Barcelona.

2004 - Inauguration of the José Carreras Cellular Factory at the Transfusion Center and Tissue Banc of the Catalan Health Service (Barcelona).

2005 - The Foundation celebrates the 10 million bone marrow donors reached worldwide with an event at Barcelona's Hospital Clínic.

2005 - José Carreras visits the children at the Hematology paediatric service of the Vall d'Hebron hospital with football player Víctor Valdés.

2006 - National fundraising campaign with an event celebrating the 1,000 transplants performed in Spain at the Niño Jesús University Children Hospital in Madrid.

2006 - Awareness campaign promoting bone marrow donations among the immigrant population at the football tournament TOT COLORS organized by Barcelona Football Club.

2007 - Launch of the awareness and fundraising campaign at the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital - ICO Badalona (Barcelona).

2007 - José Carreras visits the children at the Oncohematology Service at the La Paz University Hospital with football player Iker Casillas.

2007 - 100 families have stayed so far at the José Carreras Foundation's apartments for patients and their families. They came from different parts of Spain and countries like Romania, Morocco, Argentina, Paraguay and Russia.

2008 - José Carreras celebrates the European Week against Leukaemia (21-28 June) with a visit to the children at the Niño Jesús Hospital in Madrid with actress Belén Rueda.

2009 - Renovation of the framework agreement with the Health Ministry to recognize REDMO as an official registry within the National Health System.

2009 - TV actors Paula Echevarría, Michelle Jenner, Iván Sánchez and Carles Francino, accompany José Carreras during the presentation of the new awareness campaign "Tell us about your plans" during an event at the Hospital Materno-Infantil Gregorio Marañón in Madrid.

2009 - The José Carreras Foundation signs an Intention Agreement with the Generalitat de Catalunya for the creation of the José Carreras International Research Institute Against Leukaemia.

2010- José Carreras presents the new awareness campaign during an event at the Hospital de Sant Pau of Barcelona with the football player Rafa Márquez and the team manager of the F.C Barcelona, Txiki Begiristáin.
