JOSÉ CARRERAS CHARITY CONCERT IN HEREFORD (UK)

Next Saturday, the 5th of June, José Carreras will star in a charity evening in the city of Hereford in the UK.  The event will also feature a performance of "Die Fledermaus" by Johann Strauss with the chamber opera group, Diva Ópera.

José Carreras will be accompanied by the prestigious pianist Lorenzo Bavaj in an event that is aiming to raise funds for the fight against leukaemia.  He will perform a recital as the guest of honour in a charity evening to benefit the leukaemia charity that took his name, Combat Stress and also Headly Court, for people with disabilities.

Thalassemia is a rare disease that, occasionally, requires a bone marrow transplant in order to be completely cured.

During the whole week, the Foundation will showcase the plans of patients suffering from leukaemia written on ribbons symbolizing the support they receive, in order to raise awareness about the importance of participating in the fight against leukaemia so that patients can carry out their plans.

We invite you to come and attach your ribbon from the 24th to the 29th of March, from 8 AM to 8 PM at the new Sant Pau Hospital.

To celebrate its 100th anniversary, the Girona Chamber of Commerce sponsors a charity recital for the José Carreras Leukaemia Foundation.

José Carreras will be accompanied by pianist Lorenzo Bavaj, and he will combine songs in Italian, in Spanish and in Catalan.

Like every year, ARD, the first public television channel in Germany, celebrates the José Carreras Gala for the benefit of the José Carreras Leukaemia Foundation (Deutsche Leukämie Stiftung e.V.)

Last Christmas, we wanted to be different. Our goal was to offer symbolic hope to the people suffering from leukaemia through HEARTS AGAINST LEUKAEMIA (in Spanish). That's why we invited you to send us your heart with a message of support for patients.

You can still click on the link and see the instructions to make your heart (in Spanish), then send it to us and we'll post it next to the others on the blog.

The campaign was a success and patients told us it cheered them up, so now we have become more ambitious and we want 5,000 hearts against leukaemia, one for each patient that becomes sick every year in Spain. You can include yourself, your heart (simply an image or a picture of a heart is fine, although originality is always welcome) and a message in the facebook group we've created and tell all your friends so that they can also participate!
