"Les Miserables" against leukaemia
Last night took place, at the Barcelona Musical Theatre (BTM), the special charitable function of the show "Les Miserables" to raise funds for the José Carreras Foundation against leukaemia, before the musical bids farewell to Spain this Sunday, 18th of March.
Before starting the show, which included the attendance of Mr. José Carreras, the General Director of Stage Entertainment, Julia Gómez Caro, handed the Catalan tenor the quantity raised for the José Carreras Foundation, whose objective is that leukaemia will one day be 100% curable. Joining them in stage was Arnau, an 11 year old patient of leukaemia. José Carreras thanked the public's presence, which included many patients and ex patients, and said that, in spite of the progress acquired during the last 24 years, there is still a long way to go.
"Les Miserables" has maintained leadership in Barcelona's theatre box-office during this season. The century's musical has received great support from the theatre critics and takes off after two years of absolute success in Madrid and Barcelona, with an audience of almost 700,000 people.
It's because of this that "Les Miserables" wanted to say farewell in a unique and special way in Barcelona, supporting an institution so prestigious and fighting for a good cause, like the José Carreras Foundation.
If you would like to collaborate with the José Carreras Foundation you can become a member here. With a little amount you could help us to continue our research in order to achieve that leukaemia becomes one day 100% curable for everyone and in every case.
