In 2002, the tenor, friend and colleague of José Carreras altruistically participated in the José Carreras Gala to help to raise funds for the Foundation. The gala is organized each year by the José Carreras Foundation and shown on the German television channel ARD. Plácido Domingo performed together with José Carreras in this televised event.
